Diamonds are a girls best friend

www.lilackittycreations.blogspot.com

……..that’s the theme for this weeks challenge at the Scrapbook Sisters Card Challenge.

Personally I can think of lots of things that I would like before diamonds but then again if someone was to give me a few little diamonds I wouldn’t turn them down –  if a supermodel can’t resist a few diamonds who would I be to refuse!

Here is my design team card that I made for this weeks challenge;

The swirl stamps are Two Scoops by Basic Grey which I stamped and embossed with Detail Silver embossing powder and the gems were all stuck on with Quickie glue pen one by one – I really must buy some self adhesive ones!

Check out the challenge here and have a look at all the other design team cards.

Layouts from class

When I saw the 7 Gypsies papers that we had in our kits in class last week I was a little daunted. I loved the papers but was not quite sure how to work with them!

I followed one of the examples that Julie had made for class and then I had the confidence to “freestyle” as we like to call it in class which just means doing your own thing! You can see Julie’s layouts on her blog here.

This is the layout that I copied in class;

And these are mine…..

Now I know what to do with the other 7Gypsies that I have bought in the past and filed away. If you can be inspired by these papers there are still a few left in the shop.

Over the Edge

Here is my card for this weeks challenge at Scrapbook Sisters and the theme is over the edge.011

Unusually for me I had this card planned out before I started – usually it comes together as I start making it! I have used stamps which Gayle Bond designed for Scrapbook Sisters last year.

To make the base I used a circle template to make the semi circle and then trimmed an A6 card card to fit behind with a layer of acetate in between. I covered the front of the card with a Dream Street Papers snowflake paper.  The images were all stamped onto white card and then coloured with Copics. After I cut them out I used the Copics again around the edge to get rid of the white edge. Once I stuck them onto the card I added Liquid Pearls along the bottom edge, Stickles on the trees and Glamour Dust on the snowman's hat and around the curve of the card. Lastly I added the Santa and sleigh which I cut on the Cricut to the acetate at the top and then trimmed around.

So what’s your take on “over the edge”? – it’s easy to enter the challenge . Even if you don’t have a blog you can email a photo to the shop and Karen and Julie will add you to the challenge. There is also the chance to win some fab digital stamps from Gayle.

Stickers and squares

Here is a quick card for my daughter to give to a friend on her 17th birthday. I used some stickers from Paperchase – I can’t resist all the lovely stationary in there – good job hubby is usually with me when I go there to stop me buying one of everything!

Hmmmm…….I have a sheet of wrapping paper in the same design, now what shall I do with that……answers on a postcard!!!

More pages….

Well here are a few more pages for “Learn Something New Every Day” including the two that I missed and you will wonder how I did when you see the colour of one of them!

Here are the two pages that were missing from the previous post

and here are the rest of the pages;

Thank you for all the lovely comments on the last post, I really appreciate them  but I do have to confess that the raindrop photo is not my own!

Time to get card making quickly if you want to enter the Scrapbook Sisters card  challenge – the theme is scalloped circles and the closing date is later today.

Learn Something New Every Day

At the beginning of September I signed up to do an online course with Shimelle Laine called Learn Something New Every Day but for one reason or another I never really got started until about the 5th September and then I stumbled again until this week when I have really got to grips with it and have got up to date.

I have used a 10x10” ring bound book that I bought in The Merchant Chandler in Canterbury which has craft paper type pager. These pages are not necessarily my normal style of scrapbooking but really something that I can get on to the page fairly quickly!

So here are my first selection of pages with a few more to follow in the next couple of days!

As I have been adding these photos I have realised that I have missed out 2 pages and the front cover  - better get my camera out again!

An Old Favourite

I’ve had this Penny Black stamp for several years and I’ve used it many times – it’s one of those stamps that I always come back to!

014

I have used Basic Grey Marrakech papers all matted onto brown cardstock and the paper pieced trees are a stamp by Magenta. I stamped the image with brown Memento ink, coloured with Copics and then coloured the background with Antique Linen distress ink.

I will be entering this card into the Basic Grey Challenge whose theme is paper piecing and the Allsorts Challenge whose theme is autumn colours.

Don’t forget to have a look at the new card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters.

Scalloped Circles – challenge 2

For the second challenge at Scrapbook Sisters the theme is scalloped circles, so here is my design team card this week.

herne bay 001

I used  Nestabilities in my Cuttlebug to make the aperture in the card and then again to cut the white frame on the front.  I embossed acetate with a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder. The little girl is a Manga Gorjuss Girl coloured with Copics of course. The red patterned paper is Basic Grey from the Blitzen range and the poinsettia are from my stash. I added a couple more scalloped circles around the greeting and some blue snowflake paper on the inside.

Have you had a look yet at the Scrapbook Sisters card challenge? Even if don’t want to enter the challenge there is some great inspiration!

A very quick card

When I woke up yesterday morning the first thing that I thought of was that I had forgotten to make my nephew a Birthday card and as he was likely to pop in and see us during the morning I needed to make it quick so yesterday I was card making before breakfast!

herne bay 005

My nephew likes steampunk style and this is about as “steampunk-ish” as I could manage at 8 o’clock on a Saturday morning.

The paper is an off cut of a Prima paper from several years ago – I think the range was called Cavalier. The cogs are a Tim Holtz die cut from chipboard, the label is a Sizzix die and the alphas are Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type and everything has been inked with Chalk Eyes and Distress Inks.

I quite often go to bed with ink on my fingers but it’s not often that I have ink on my fingers before breakfast!

Hedgehog Trio

This months challenge at Penny Black at allsorts is “Punch Away” so here is my card;

009

To fit the theme I punched the brown border underneath the stamped image and I used a scalloped circle punch for the greeting. I bought the stamp a few years ago at the stamp show at Alexandra Palace and had yet to use it. It’s nice and easy to colour with just a handful of Copics. I finished the card with some Maya Road rick-rac and a metal corner brad. The stamped greeting was the free stamp on this months Craft Stamper magazine.

Allsorts Challenge – New beginnings

The theme this week at Allsorts Challenge the theme is new beginnings so I decided to get out my favourite Papermania stamps and make a new home card.

010

I stamped the two chairs and the chandelier on to white card and then mounted it on to red and then white again. I made a black card base about 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches square – most of my cards are square, i find it easier to work on a square base – do you have a preference? To finish the card I added a silver grey ribbon, silver rub on alphas and 9 little red gems, 3 on the chandelier and 3 on each lower corner.

I didn’t know of anyone moving house when I made this card but received a phone call yesterday which means that this card might be needed quite soon!

A Visitor

I have just found this photo on my phone and had to share it with you. Classes at Scrapbook Sisters are so good that even Timmy the cat wanted to join in.

New Challenge

Have you checked out the new card challenge at Scrapbook Sisters?  The theme is pink and black  and there is some pretty good blog candy for someone who enters.

I was pleased to be asked to be on the card challenge design team and just hope I can meet the challenge. This is my pink and black card

The stamp is by Paperartsy and the paper is Bo Bunny and there is some Stickles and gems on there too!

If you haven’t entered the challenge already why not give it a go?

Just a little card……

Here is a little card that I made for my mother and father-in-laws wedding anniversary yesterday. The stamp is a Penny Black wooden stamp – I think that it is quite an old one!

002

I just used my palest pink, blue and grey copics to add some colour around the edge. i got my poor forgotten Cuttlebug out and embossed the white background with swiss dots. I then mounted it on the last little scrap of silver card in my stash (actually had to cut down the embossed white to fit!) I then mounted it on to a little pale blue pre-scored card and added a few paper roses. Simple – but I like it!
