Creative Scrappers – Sketch 106

It’s been a while since I have participated in a Creative Scrappers Challenge so as it has been a pretty dull Bank Holiday Monday I decided that the best thing to do today was to craft!

Here is the sketch for this weeks challenge;

and here is my layout

creative scrappers sketch 106 001

The papers are SEI Chick-a-Doo and Pebbles Inc. Make a Wish Dandelion. The green paper is the reverse of the SEI paper. The photograph is of my son Matt when he was about 4 yrs old.

I have also been finishing off some layouts from Mays Limited Edition Class at Scrapbook Sisters. I have completed 4 layouts that I started in class and another 2 of my own. i still have several sheets of paper and cardstock left so I think I can squeeze another 2 or 3 layouts from my kit

Whoo Hooo – I won!!!

I was really pleased when Julie of  Rainbow Days blog sent me a message congratulating me on being (randomly) selected as this weeks winner on The Basic Grey Challenge because I hadn’t realised! I will be receiving a $25 voucher to spend at Simon Says Stamp, the sponsor of  Basic Grey Challenges.

I was then inspired to make a card for this weeks challenge which is a sketch.

BG Sketch 6

Here is my interpretation;

010 011 012 013

I used a Mo Manning rubber stamp that I bought at the Stevenage stamp  show, coloured with Copics, Basic Grey Sultry range of papers and paper flowers and ribbon from my stash.

I hope you like it – I’m quite pleased with it!

In Miniature 17 - I think!

I have lost track of which In Miniature project this was as I must admit I have several (or more than several) that need finishing - but I have set myself the task of getting them finished.

Karen at www.scrapbooksisters.co.uk designed this little board book which was decorated with Daisy and Dandelion papers.

I have used lots of photographs of Martins Birthday Celebrations at The S;pa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells where we had afternoon tea. Afternoon tea was delicious and we had a great day with all the family and we even had sunshine!

I have only added photographs and journaling and no other embellishments as Martin said he preferred it quite simple. This is only about half of the book but shown here but I don't want to bore you with all of it.

Bling, Punches, Soft Green and Light Aqua

If that sounds like a strange title to this blog post it is because they are some of the elements that I needed to include in this card to participate in three different challenges.

Basic Grey Challenges - using Basic Grey paper and including some punching.

Colour Create - using the colours soft green and light aqua.

Totally Gorjuss - Bling it up!

Here is my card;

24th May 2010 003

The papers used were both Basic Grey, the stamped image is a Gorjuss girl coloured with copics, the crown and butterflies are punched and I have added bling to the crown which hopefully means I have got it all covered.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge - Week 102

This is the first time I have participated in the Penny Black challenge and when I was looking through my Penny Black stamps I rediscovered this lovely Christmas Cat stamp and decided that it would be a good idea to make some  of my challenge cards as Christmas cards and take off some of the pressure later in the year - I am always making Christmas cards right up to the last minute! Here is the card;

12th May 2010 015

I coloured the stamped image with Copics, cut the frame with my Woodware chippies frames and added three gems. The theme for the challenge is lots of dots so I have used a green spotty background paper and tied on a red ribbon - my first Christmas card made this year and it's only May!

Envelope Book

Recently in our fortnightly classes at www.scrapbooksisters.co.uk we made an envelope book. Although initially, the construction was quite tricky it developed into a beautiful mini-book. At this class we could choose our own papers from a selection and I plumped for some of the Hang 10 range from Basic Grey  one of their earliest ranges. I used photographs from our holiday in St Ives in Cornwall 3 years ago and where we will also be returning to for a short holiday this year.

In got a bit carried away making pockets and tags and managed to add quite a few photos to this project. I'm looking for ward to this years holiday and all the photographs I can take - I didn't have my DSLR when I was there last time!

Hooray.......it's fixed!!!

Well, I'm very grateful to my lovely husband who has fixed my laptop for me - I was a bit worried that it was terminal!

I spent Wednesday doing something a little different and I sewed myself a new bag. I used fabric from Ikea and a pattern that I found at http://www.jcarolinecreative.com/ . I think that it will be just right to carry my scrapping stuff to classes and crops.

Oh Dear.........

I was hoping to update my blog - I took photographs today and was going to show something a bit different but my laptop has died! Hopefully DH will be able to fix it tomorrow. Back soon!

Catching Up

I do seem to have a few In Miniature projects that need finishing but here is one that I recently finished.

The papers are the beautiful Laundry Line from My Minds Eye, the book was constructed  from chipboard with a mini canvas on the last page and finally it was bound with the Bind-It-All. I'm thinking that a BIA would be very useful to have at home -could be my next purchase - but don't tell my husband!

It was my niece's 18th Birthday on Wednesday so of course I made her a card,

12th May 2010 002

The paper is K & C0, the stamp is Whiff of Joy, coloured with Copics and the flowers are Prima, again I used Woodware chippies as a template to make the frame.

Basic Grey Challenge Week 19 - Photo Inspiration

This week at Basic Grey Challenges, the inspiration is this photo;

kids-room[1]_thumb[3]

Here is the card that I made;

12th May 2010 004

12th May 2010 006

The background paper is from the Basic Grey Blush range (one of my favourites) and the hearts are also cut from Basic Grey but I don't know which range as it was an off cut from my bulging drawer of off cuts! The stamped image is Hanglar and Stanglar - I do wish we could buy these stamps in this country, because these little people are just soooooo cute. I used Woodware chippies as a template to make the larger frame, the smaller one is from the Cricut. The blue lace across the card is white paper lace coloured with my Frost Blue Copic pen and of course the image is coloured with copics too. The hearts have been threaded on to some metalic thread. Apart from the stamped images all the other supplies were brought at Scrapbook Sisters at one time or another.

Birthday Cards

We have so many family birthdays in April that making cards for them all has kept me quite busy! So here are a couple of examples of cards that I have been making.

First is a 50th Birthday card for my husband who was born on St Georges Day and is quite proud of the fact! The knight, castle, princess and castle wall are all from a set of Woodware stamps that Scrapbook Sisters ordered in for me. The gold 50 was cut on the Cricut, the shield I cut myself and the dragon was cut from a St Georges Day card!

5th May 2010 001

The second card was for my sons 19th Birthday. It was taken from an idea that I saw in Making Cards magazine and I have used an image from a comic book and downloaded an image of a brick wall. I love these big Happy Birthday peel offs they look great on a bigger card.

IMG00081-20100405-2228

I made this birthday card for my nephew using one of my favourite House Mouse stamps which I have had for many years but gets used again and again, the backing paper is Basic Grey and the image is coloured with Copics.......but then I realised that it was actually his 30th Birthday this year, so...........

7th May 2010 005

.........I made this one instead! I used Woodware Chippies as templates for the 30 and the frame shape and cut the stars on my trusty Cricut, the backing papers are Doodlebug glittered cardstock and Basic Grey.

7th May 2010 002

There were also another couple of Birthday cards but in my card making marathon I forgot to photograph them!

Ruby Wedding Card

I was asked to make a Ruby Wedding Card for my brother in law to give to some good friends of his. The couple have been through a tough time recently as he has had a serious illness and spent a long time in hospital so I wanted to make a special card for them to celebrate their anniversary.

Please excuse my inky hands in the first photo!

I spent quite a long time cutting the aperture into the right place on the Cricut but at least it gave me lots of labels to use on the inside of the card. I printed the greeting on the first label by printing first on to plain printer paper and then attaching the label with repositionable Herma and running it through the printer again. I added the little corner of flowers and leaves and used My Minds Eye patterned papers.

I hope they like it but as their anniversary is not until next month it will be a while before I find out!

I would be happy to hear your comments.
