Deco Page Swap - Part two

After receiving my Deco Page from Pam I have now made my page which I have sent to Pam.
I used a Basic Grey paper as the background. To make the moon I punched a circle in acetate to use as a stencil and then stippled white acrylic paint through it. I stamped trees at the bottom of the page, then used torn book pages as a border all round which I spayed with Glimmer Mists and inked the edges with charcoal chalk eye. I then stamped a branch on to a book page and downloaded a silhouette of an owl to finish it. Pam's theme is nocturnal.
I really enjoyed making this and look forward to making the next one for Bev whose them is Faries at the bottom of the garden - better get my thinking cap on!

Deco Page swap

I have joined a Deco Page swap on the Scrapbook Sisters Forum. I am swapping with Pam Thorburn. My theme is birds and here is Pam's lovely creation which I received yesterday in the post. Pam has used distress inks, glimmer mists, collage papers, an image from a vintage paper napkin and Stickles.

I have used this image from Pam's blog as I have been sooo busy making Mother's Day presents, I hadn't got round to scanning it myself.

Pam's theme for her Deco Page Swap is "nocturnal" and I have an idea in my head that I have yet to get onto paper. I have posted my mum's gift this morning and now have to work on a gift for my Mother-in-law and then I will be free to create a page for Pam. I will add some more images here as soon as I have finished.

And now for something different....my clipboard

This weeks class at Scrapbook Sisters was an altered clipboard. I have used my three cats as my inspiration. The clipboard is inked and stamped with chalk eyes and the only paper that I used is Basic Grey Archaic (of course) I added some cat die cuts, cut with my trusty Cricut machine and used a white gel pen to add the faux stitching around the top and to add the suitable quote that I found

It's a bit grungy.........

I have had a sheet of 12x12 paper covered with sunflower squares for several years but was having trouble scrapping it as it was a bit too fussy so I cut it up and used several squares on their own. I inked the dges with creamy brown chalk eye ink pad ( where would we be without this favourite) and then distressed the edges. I went on to distress the edges of the photo and the green core'dinations cardstock. I added some stitching at the edges, Prima flowers and rub ons and a title (courtesy of Sting) cut on the Cricut. I quite like this distressed grungy style but need to try a few more layouts like this.

It's a scraplift....

Although I often surf the internet looking for new ideas for scrapbooking and cardmaking, I only use parts of these ideas and rarely scraplift or cardlift (is there such a word?). Recently I had been looking for a way to use lots of photos on one layout and found my answer in Scrapbook Inspirations magazine. To be honest I think my layout is more of a straight copy than a scraplift but it worked. The photos are from a day we spent as a family in bath last year where we came across many beautifully decorated pigs across the city that were being autioned for charity later in the year

I have finished......

I started this crown book months and months ago at class at Scrapbook Sisters but have had trouble finishing it. I spent a lot of time and care covering the chipboard book with DCWV Once Upon A Time papers and then didn't want to spoil it by rushing it and spoiling the finish. While thinking about what photos to add I seemed to lose my mojo!!! But then I eventually found it again and decided to complete it like a fairytale story of our family (not that real life is a fairy tale I hasten to add). As usual I left it a bit late in the day to take photos and they are a little dark but after waiting so long to finish the book I didn't want any more delays!

Family History

Some time ago I scanned most of the old family photos in my mum's photo album but it is only recently that I have started to use them in layouts. I decided to use a selection of K & Co papers that I won in a Scrapbook Sisters competition two years ago.
This first layout is of my mum (2nd from the left) when she had just started work. Her first job was working in a bank (as was mine). She was sent on a training course to Leamington Spa and as a young girl from a small village in Buckinghamshire it was the furthest she had travelled on her own in 1959. The photo shows her with some of the other girls who were also on the training course.

The second layout shows my great-grandfather William Holmes and his second wife Maggie Jess. They married in middle age after Williams first wife had died. Maggie had been a housekeeper at The Park in Stranraer and perhaps was a welcome addition to a widower with a young family.I made the title as a lift up flap with hidden journalling underneath.

This third layout shows (from the left) my Great uncle Stanley with his wife and then my grandma Dorothy and grandad David. Grandad and Stanley always got on well together and although Stan lived in Scotland and Grandad in the south of England they often spent holidays together.
Posted by PicasaI have really enjoyed making these layouts and intend to make some more with old photos soon - well as soon as finish off all the UFOs (unfinished objects) that are mounting up!
